How does it work?

Well, a better question to ask might be ‘does it work at all?’!!

The answer is yes, but with the recent barrage of questions/queries/interest of the ‘what have you got for MY army?’ type, it may yet grind to a halt entirely.

Mirfield Miniatures aims to provide miniatures and hobby tools/equipment at affordable prices, and has done so for around four years. The shop is currently in the eye of the storm, with a relentless tide of questions threatening to throw it off course. ‘What are you complaining about?’, you may (reasonably) ask? Well, I’m not complaining exactly. Every business wants to sell stuff: I just want to be able to do it on my terms, and as fairly as possible for all of you out there looking in.

When it works well, there’s a rhythm. Monday and Tuesday I can show some minis to you on Facebook (at www.facebook.com/mirfieldminiatures); Wednesday and Thursday I can post them out to you; on Friday I’ll restock the shop and get it weekend-ready for the Saturday queues (yes, there have been many, and this continues to happen, every weekend). And then we can repeat the process! It’s a fun loop to be in, but it’s a fragile one. So I’d ask – don’t try to skirt the system that we have here. I’m immediately slowed by a glut of requests for models that might have been available in store on Saturday, but haven’t yet found their way to a Facebook post. I understand it, and the frustrations of not being able to bag your army as easily as you’d like. I apologise for my slowness in responding to all the messages coming in, but hope that this post helps you to understand the reasons.

So … here’s the schedule again:

MONDAY – SHOP CLOSED – FACEBOOK POSTS (FANTASY/NON- SCI-FI)

TUESDAY – SHOP CLOSED – FACEBOOK POSTS (SCI-FI/WARHAMMER 40K)

WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY – SHOP OPEN 10AM TO 5PM – PARCELS WILL BE POSTED OUT

FRIDAY – SHOP OPEN 10AM TO 8PM – RE-STOCK – LOOK OUT FOR ‘NO RESERVES’ POSTS ON FACEBOOK

SATURDAY – SHOP OPEN 12PM TO 5PM – MADNESS ENSUES FROM 12PM TO 1PM – CALL EARLY TO BAG THE EXCITING STUFF – AFTER 1PM FOR A MORE CHILLED SHOPPING EXPERIENCE

SUNDAY – SHOP CLOSED – WINE O’CLOCK

Do you buy stock? – yes I do. Ideally, I sell at around the 50% retail mark, and buy in at 40%. This is a very rough guide and things like condition need to be taken into account. I am happy to give a quote for trade and/or cash on your models. However, Saturdays are not recommended – you may need to leave models with me and I will get back to you later with a price.

Sounds off-putting … is there any point in me coming? Well, I hope so. I believe a lot of people have got a lot of great prices on new and OOP models from us over the years. People return time and time again, and really enjoy the excitement of bagging a bargain! Give it a go, I hope you won’t be disappointed! Sure, there are easier and more straightforward ways to secure models, but rarely is it this much fun 😀

Please understand that if I don’t respond to your specific query it is for no other reason than all of the above, and you have my sincere apologies in advance of the fact.
